So here’s a over-done model…

Man (or woman) makes a lot of money.

Man (or woman) then sells a book explaining how they made a lot of money.

Now, I have no problems with the above as long as:

1) The person did, in fact, create the results BEFORE they started selling how-to information.

and

2) The information they provide is really of high value.

And that brings me to Rob Toth’s “Dear Employee” series because his current 28th Birthday promo is
getting a lot of buzz.

He ran a similar birthday sale last year which was a temporary offer, but I think this one has even
more of a punch to it. (And yes, I do recommend it).

Great stories succeed because they are able to capture the imagination of large or important audiences.

A great story is true. Not necessarily because it’s factual, but because it’s consistent and authentic. Consumers are too good at sniffing out inconsistencies for a marketer to get away with a story that’s just slapped on.

Great stories make a promise. They promise fun, safety or a shortcut. The promise needs to be bold and audacious. It’s either exceptional or it’s not worth listening to.

Great stories are trusted. Trust is the scarcest resource we’ve got left. No one trusts anyone. People don’t trust the beautiful women ordering vodka at the corner bar (they’re getting paid by the liquor company). People don’t trust the spokespeople on commercials (who exactly is Rula Lenska?). And they certainly don’t trust the companies that make pharmaceuticals (Vioxx, apparently, can kill you). As a result, no marketer succeeds in telling a story unless he has earned the credibility to tell that story.

Great stories are subtle. Surprisingly, the fewer details a marketer spells out, the more powerful the story becomes. Talented marketers understand that allowing people to draw their own conclusions is far more effective than announcing the punch line.

Great stories happen fast. First impressions are far more powerful than we give them credit for. Great stories don’t always need eight-page colour brochures or a face-to-face meeting. Either you are ready to listen or you aren’t.

Great stories don’t appeal to logic, but they often appeal to our senses. Pheromones aren’t a myth. People decide if they like someone after just a sniff.

Great stories are rarely aimed at everyone. Average people are good at ignoring you. Average people have too many different points of view about life and average people are by and large satisfied. If you need to water down your story to appeal to everyone, it will appeal to no one. The most effective stories match the world view of a tiny audience—and then that tiny audience spreads the story.

Great stories don’t contradict themselves. If your restaurant is in the right location but had the wrong menu, you lose. If your art gallery carries the right artists but your staff is made up of rejects from a used car lot, you lose. Consumers are clever and they’ll see through your deceit at once.

Most of all, great stories agree with our world view. The best stories don’t teach people anything new. Instead, the best stories agree with what the audience already believes and makes the members of the audience feel smart and secure when reminded how right they were in the first place.

Knol: A knol is an authoritative article about a specific topic.

The project was already announced in December 2007, and nobody spoke much about it till today.

Knol encyclopedia – based on the Wikipedia model – has been launched officially yesterday.

The main difference with Wikipedia is that experts are named ( at the start today I mainly see articles related on health subjects) that publish a basic article, that article can be annoted and commented by the community, but only the author can decide if the article can be modified by another person.

Also advertisements can be placed around the subject and the author will receive a % fee, this could become one of the main reasons why people would write for Knol instead of Wikipedia.

Google also signed an agreement with the The New Yorker giving authors the possibility to add one cartoon per article, among the big stock.

Welcome to this new tool, the future will tell if it’s model is a complement or a concurent of Wikipedia… My idea is that they will live peacefully near each other.

As you should know marketing your keywords is a basic SEO strategy. Anchored links will help you to do this, even better is when you apply the strategies implied by the semantic algorythm used by Google to verify if your site is consistently using the same concept or related concept.

Since an algorythm is only a set of rules those can be used for your benefit if you understant what is is all about, and do not need to answer Human logic.

Semantic indexing is about related concept, so this means that if you have an African Art site and you want to promote it on a marketing site like this one, you need to combine the two concepts, even if they do have nothing in common, to be accepted by the algorythm.

And if you want to do a page about funny T shirt on a site related on African Art, you will have to include also the “African art” subject once or twice onto the page, so that you won’t be rejected by the Google algorythm.

I also recommend to use once or twice the main concept words about your site, like for this site “secret marketing links” , on most pages from your site even if you do not need to always speak about the basic keywords. Like for this site that will be first on Google when looking for this key phrase “secret marketing links”, even if I created this site only a few months ago.

For marketing reasons I also recommend using an image having as name the main keyword you want for the page, this will give you extra traffic through “Google image”, also use the description tag with your keyword included

Also another advantage of these sites is that if you write ten or more articles about the same subject, people will recognise you as an “authority” on this niche.

It is also possible to use your profile page on these article sites as a signature, that you can use on forums, when you try to help people to solve the problems they have.

This is a very powerfull marketing tool, because this is really what people need.Read how to solve problems they have in an easy way. If you are the guy who helps them, if you can provide them with step by step solutions, they will probably end in buying your products, since they recognise your genuine ability to help them.

Another tip I can give , if you have no inspiration is just to browse among the most read articles, choose a topic you like, read a few articles about it, open Word and start writing about what you just have read with your own words, and publish the articles. If you need related product just use the search function provided by clickbank.com and www.cj.com two of the top affiliate product sites on the net. If you created yourself an Ebook you can also use the two above mentionned programs to find affiliates, and grow your lists.

Or give one of your Ebooks for free in exchange of people giving you an email, and grow your list.
